Privacy and cookie policy

This notice explains the optional analytics used on maser.dev. It applies to this website, not the Maser desktop application or third-party websites.

Last updated: August 7, 2026

Our approach

Analytics is optional. Google Analytics is not loaded and no analytics events are sent unless you actively choose Accept analytics. Rejecting analytics does not affect access to the website or downloads.

You can reopen Cookie settings at any time from the lower-left corner of the site to change your choice. When you reject or withdraw consent, the site removes its Google Analytics cookies.

What we collect when you opt in

If you opt in, Google Analytics 4 helps us understand aggregate website use, including page views and the download-button click. Google documents that a standard implementation may collect usage and session statistics, approximate location, and browser and device information. We do not intentionally send names, email addresses, or other directly identifying information to Google Analytics.

The purpose is to improve Maser's website and understand interest in available desktop distributions. We do not use this analytics implementation for advertising, personalised advertising, or marketing audiences.

Cookies we use

Cookie Purpose Duration
maser_analytics_consent Remembers your analytics choice. It does not track you. 1 year
_ga Google Analytics distinguishes visitors. Up to 2 years
_ga_<measurement-id> Google Analytics persists session state. Up to 2 years

The two Google Analytics cookies are created only after you consent. Browser privacy controls can shorten their effective lifetime.

Your choices and rights

Your choice is voluntary, specific to analytics, and can be withdrawn at any time through Cookie settings. Depending on applicable law, you may also have rights to be informed about, access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, or receive a copy of personal data.

For a privacy question or a request about this website, contact the Maser team through the Maser website issue tracker. Please do not post sensitive personal information in a public issue; ask for a private contact channel instead.

Google Analytics

Google Analytics is provided by Google. Its processing and privacy information, including the Google Analytics data-processing terms and Google privacy policy, are governed by Google's documentation and agreements. We recommend reviewing Google's information if you choose to enable analytics.

You can also use Google's Analytics opt-out browser add-on to prevent Google Analytics from using data from sites you visit.
